You've seen one book about colors, you've seen them all, right? Sometimes it does feel that way. Over the years, I feel like I've read so many books that set out to teach preschoolers to identify their colors. Well, let me tell you that even if you have a million color books on your shelves, you still need one more! You need Bear Sees Colors by Karma Wilson and Jane Chapman.

"Mouse and Bear are walking; they are chitter-chatter-talking. So much for them to do. And the bear sees . . . "

Blue! And green! And yellow! In this book, Bear and his forest friends go tromping through the forest, and as they walk, they find that the forest is a very colorful place. There are blue rivers, red berries, yellow honey combs, and much more.

Bear Sees Colors features the same style all of the Bear books have: a rhyming story, sweet forest friends, adorable illustrations, and a happy story that preschoolers are sure to love. Every book shelf needs at least a couple of Bear books!

Do you have kid that love to do art projects? I try to keep a box of random bits and bobs along with markers, glue, scissors, the usual crafty supplies. My husband thinks I'm crazy for keeping things like egg cartons and toilet paper cardboard tubes, but I think these things are treasures! They can be turned into anything, and they provide that open-ended quality to craft time. Well, if your kids love to cut and paste and turn those egg cartons and old shoe boxes into art, tell them to keep it up! They might end up creating something as totally awesome as the collage art work in this brand new book, Cloud Cuckoo Land, by authors Sam Davies and Andy Watts, AKA Wavey n Snotts.

Cloud Cuckoo Land takes the reader on one crazy journey through an artsy collage world filled with unusual and imaginative creatures like Snoobly-Snarks and Hofflemabots that glow in the dark along with a blue rabbit that walks on stilts! Each character is wildly creative and based on the author's idea of using animal idioms to tell a story. The story-style is very much in the family of Dr. Seuss - wacky and fun and a little nonsensical but in the best way. Kids will love it!

Do you have a favorite hot chocolate recipe? There is no such thing as bad hot chocolate! From fancy French style with imported chocolate in fine bone china to a packet of Swiss Miss in a paper cup, I love it all. Nothing is better than coming in from the cold with rosy cheeks and a frozen nose, and stirring up a nice warm mug of hot chocolate.
